Distinguished guests, dignitaries and members of the press gathered at the official press launch, held at the Alisa Hotel in Accra on the 21st of June 2023, to express their support and enthusiasm for the upcoming maiden edition of the AFRICA ENERGY TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE scheduled to take place from 8th – 10th August, 2023 in Accra, Ghana. The international conference is under the theme: ‘’Africa at the Forefront of Energy Technology and Policy Integration in a just energy transition’’.
Among the notable attendees were Honourable Herbert Krapa, Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Energy, Honourable Mercer Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Energy, Ghana, Mr. James Yamoah, the Deputy Director of Petroleum Upstream at Ghana’s Ministry of Energy, Dr. Thomas Manu, Board Chair of the Africa Energy Technology Centre, Dr. Robert Sogbadji, and Deputy Director of Power (Nuclear and Alternative Energy).
Honourable Herbert Krapa launching the conference said “Demand for energy in Africa keeps rising and if energy systems in Africa will grow to meet this rapidly growing demand … we need to rely on technology; technology that is efficient, reliable, resilient and affordable.
Ms. Emelia Akumah, the Founder and President of the Africa Energy Technology Centre, shared her vision for the conference, stating, “The Africa Energy Technology Conference 2023 will be a pivotal event for our continent, bringing together key stakeholders to shape the future of energy technology and policy integration. Our aim is to empower Africa to take charge of its energy destiny and ensure a just energy transition. By harnessing our collective knowledge, innovation, and collaboration, we can build a sustainable energy future for Africa.”
The Africa Energy Technology Conference 2023 will feature a comprehensive program encompassing keynote speeches, panel discussions, technical sessions, and interactive workshops, covering a wide range of topics such as renewable energy, energy storage, ending energy poverty, policy frameworks, and sustainable development. Industry leaders, researchers, entrepreneurs, and policymakers will have the opportunity to exchange ideas, showcase cutting-edge technologies, and explore collaborations that can drive Africa’s energy sector forward.
The distinguished guest of honour in the person of H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will be present at the conference in August to lead the charge to champion Ghana’s quest of becoming the hub of energy technology in Africa.
